Every season has a tempest.
Every moment has an end.
Every storm that brews and rages
Makes the strongest branches bend,

And when the seasons change within me
And I can’t shine quite as bright,
He’s the one who truly loves me,
My candle in the night.

And when I struggle in my weakness
I’m often weary from the fight,
But when my heart is worn his gentle touch
Makes everything all right.

I don’t know how to say “I’m sorry,”
I only know we’ll make it right,
‘Cause when the flame is dim inside my heart
He’s the candle in the night.

Though the ocean floor is deeper
Than the tallest mountain crown,
Every underlying ripple
Makes the waves come crashing down.

And when I’m tossed in open water
And the shore is out of sight,
He’s the one who holds my head up,
My candle in the night.

And when I struggle in my weakness
I’m often weary from the fight,
But when my heart is worn his gentle touch
Makes everything all right.

I don’t know how to say “I’m sorry,”
I only know we’ll make it right,
‘Cause when the flame is dim inside my heart
He’s the candle in the night.

I know he’ll be my one and only,
And help my spark to reignite,
‘Cause when the flame is dim inside my heart
He’s the candle in the night.

When the flame is dim inside me
He’s my candle in the night.
